From Churchill to Lincoln, Tubman to Einstein: Celebrating Real Heroes with Sports Jerseys
It's how we define our fandom: wearing the sports jersey of a professional athlete is how we express our love of a team, of a player.
But what about real heroes? Those that have earned our admiration through their lives, or professions, or impact.
Weren't they also all part of a 'team'? Neither Lincoln nor Churchill governed in a vacuum. They both had loyal cabinets, they both were at the top of the military - they were a part of teams large and small.
Harriet Tubman needed the rest of the Underground Railroad to succeed while MLK could not have made the Freedom Riders impactful by himself. He needed other 'riders'.
That is a big part of the concept behind our highly original and unique line of historical sports jerseys: celebrating and honoring real heroes.
I can say I am a big fan of Abraham Lincoln and his team, the Army of the North. Or Thurgood Marshall and Roberto Clemente.
And perhaps that is what we're missing today. Too much idolatry of false heroes going around. Too much idolizing of looks over substance, and followers over accomplishments.
Regardless, we hope you can support our efforts to highlight and honor figures who deserve the fandom. In short, they have earned their own jerseys.
Maybe then the conversation can make a welcome change from athletics and looks to impact and substance.
