Designer Sports Jerseys: The Background

Designer Sports Jerseys: The Background

This is the first in a series on our best-selling historical, fictional, and designer sports jerseys.

It started with Blackbeard.

Designer jerseys began one night while messing around with different product designs. I created a pirates jersey for the notorious buccaneer, Captain Blackbeard, and gave him number 13.

From there I went the history route, creating jerseys for Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Winston Churchill, Roberto Clemente, Wyatt Earp and more.

The jersey design/creation process can take anywhere from several days to weeks, depending largely on the concept and the complexity behind it.

Graphics, fonts, colors, layouts and especially numbers are carefully chosen, with some type of background behind them.

Lincoln is the 16th U.S. President so his number is naturally, 16. Churchill is #10 for 10 Dowling Street and Harriet Tubman is #8 for the continuous North/South route of the Underground Railroad.

In many ways, these jerseys are an homage to historical and current figures I admire plus fictional characters I love - from Matt Murdock to Napoleon Dynamite to Marty McFly.

There are also seasonal and event based jerseys plus niche, pop culture, sports and the notorious too. Looking at you, Billy the Kid, who is designated #6 for his proclivity with a six shooter.

Regardless of the subject, you can be sure each PopFelix jersey is an original, exclusive, collectible, and unique item created with care by human hands, mind.

Or as Blackbeard would say, "Arghhh, what's a 'jersey'?"
